Applied LATEX for Economists, Social Scientists and Others

L ATEXorsomeotherTEXbasedsystemisusuallythefirstchoiceofmanymathematicians, physicists, chemists and other scientists when they come to produce papers and other technical publications. Such documents often need facilities specific to their subject which may not be available in other software. A L ATEX system is more likely to provides these facilities. It produces output that looks well in print and on screen. It is not as well known that documents, which do not require a lot of these special facilities, can also benefit from the use of L ATEX even if they contain little or no mathematics. In addition such documents require a knowledge of only a small part of a L ATEX system. I have used L ATEX for more than twenty years and I have typeset many documents with it. Many of these documents related to econometric/statistical and other quantitative analysis in economics. I have benefited greatly from the use of L ATEX. Many colleagues that I have introduced to L ATEX are of a similar opinion. The primary target audience for this book would include economists, social scientists and others who wish to include some mathematics, graphs, tables etc. in documents which contain a lot of text. I would also hope that others will also find it useful.
