Understanding IT Decoding Technology and Business
This work is intended for the enjoyment and education of individuals that are just entering the world of Information Technology. It is intended to give a brief, high-level overview of the technologies in use today, their history, and their use in the world of business. As a result of trying to cover a very large and diverse topic in under two hundred pages, as well as the author’s attempt to assume no technology or mathematical background on behalf of the reader, many of the more technical and hands-on concepts have been skimmed over.
To compensate for this, readers who wish for more depth can look for footnotes within the work to point them towards books, webpages, and articles that cover the topics in more detail. The overall objective of this book is not to produce engineers, but rather to augment the education of engineers, scientists, and managers, by giving them a brief synopsis of how the very diverse disciplines in which they study or work interconnect with one another; this interconnection should be extremely apparent from Chapter 13 and later.
