PROJECT MANAGEMENT Planning and Control Techniques

I must say I was rather chuffed when Rory asked me to write the foreword for
his book - then I had second thoughts. I realised that as Rory is my cousin he
could get me much cheaper than Clinton, Blair or even Cindy Crawford. Also
I am a broadcaster by profession - speech comes easily, but writing is a chore
to me. The odds were moving towards a sneaky opt-out on my part when I was
struck by a remarkable coincidence - now you'll have to pay-attention to this.
Rory's father was my first cousin on my mother's side. My father had a first
cousin called James who also wrote books - so here I am - the exact fulcrum
in the balance between James Joyce and Rory Burke. Such a unique literary
position is not granted to many!
Now there are of course differences between the two authors. Rory's work
for instance has never been banned. Perhaps if he were to adopt a racier style
this acqolade might come his way. On a scale of incomprehensibility I would
rate Rory's work somewhere between Ulysses and Finnegan's Wake, but then
Project Management is a subject in which I am blissfully innocent. I saw
the film of Ulysses before I took up the book and will look forward to seeing
the video version of Rory's book - and if there is a part in it for Arnold
Schwarzenegger as Project Manager so much the better.
Even though I have not read this book I must strongly urge you to buy a
copy. You see Rory has promised to buy me dinner at the Royal IrishYacht
Club the next time he sails into Dun Laoghaire, but only when the first 50,000
copies are sold - and I'm getting hungry
